Item 7.01 Regulation FD Disclosure.
On September 13, 2006, Applied Materials, Inc. (“Applied”) issued a press release announcing that its Board of Directors has amended Applied’s Corporate Governance Guidelines to implement a majority voting policy for the election of directors. The text of the press release is attached hereto as Exhibit 99.1.
