(d) Applied Materials, Inc. previously reported on a Current Report on Form 8-K dated September 12, 2007 that its Board of Directors (the “Board”) had appointed Dennis D. Powell to serve as a member of the Board. The purpose of this amendment is to report that on March 11, 2008, the Board appointed Mr. Powell to serve as a member of the Audit Committee and Investment Committee and as Chair of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee, effective immediately.
