On September 15, 2008, The J. M. Smucker Company issued a press release announcing the declaration of a one time special dividend of five dollars per common share on Friday, October 31, 2008 to all shareholders of record at the close of business on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. A copy of the press release is attached as Exhibit 99.1 to this Current Report on Form 8-K and is incorporated herein by reference.
