LOS ANGELES, CA, June 06, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With Pride month starting in June, Actress & Author Megan Davis releases her debut book of Poetry titled "What Breaks Us." With sexuality being a constant theme throughout the book, Pride month was an important launch date for this book which will resonate with members of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as readers of all sexualities as the author expresses her feelings on subjects that might come from the experiences of members of the queer community but are also human experiences we can all relate to. Megan is currently a finalist in the Artists Forum Spoken Word Competition and will be performing "An Open Letter to the Supreme Court Nomination of 2020" from her book at their award ceremony in NYC at the end of June. "What Breaks Us" is available now through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and similar online book retailers.

About the Book

"What Breaks Us" is a collection of highly personal poems by author Megan Davis. We have all been heartbroken. Whether by a person or an event, we all know this crippling feeling of loss. In her inaugural collection of poetry, Megan Davis takes us on the journey of a person trying to make sense of life utilizing her own personal heartbreak. In the immediacy of this hurt, she takes that visceral pain and acrimony that she feels toward someone else and turns it on herself to excavate these pieces inside and the intersections of the things that makes her who she is. Stripping back one layer at a time, and ultimately using this cataclysmic experience, not as a moment for life to break her, but as an opportunity to break herself open and examine which pieces of herself are true and authentic, which pieces have been placed there from society and which pieces she can free herself from altogether. This is a story about love, but not about loving another person – a story about loving yourself enough to heal and be free.

About the Author:

Megan Davis is most known to audiences world-wide from her recent riveting portrayal of Amber Heard in the Fox movie "Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial" based off the sensational real life court case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard that captivated the world. She was also seen on TV in shows such as "American Horror Story," "Two Broke Girls," and "Bones." Megan's resilience and dedication to storytelling have earned her recognition, including a nomination for Best Actress at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards.

With her first published book of poetry "What Breaks Us" available in June 2024, Megan reveals that because she doesn't like to journal, over the last twelve years of her life, she has worked out all of the rage and fear and pain and growth and healing through poetry. She believes that you have to go through the rage and the fear in order to ultimately find the pieces of yourself that need healing and grow so that you can be a better person. It is the gift that we give each other in life that through our connections with one another we learn how to heal ourselves.
