Marietta, Georgia Apr 27, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 04/27/2023

A Trailblazing Nonprofit for Parrot Conservation and Welfare is Formed.

Atlanta, GA - The newly-formed Georgia Aviary, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for rescued parrots, is proud to announce its 501(c)(3) status. Recognizing the growing need for specialized care and support for these beautiful and intelligent birds, the Georgia Aviary is set to become a leading sanctuary in the United States for parrot conservation, education, and welfare.

Large sanctuaries like the Georgia Aviary can significantly alleviate the burden on parrot rescues by providing safe environments for birds in need. In the U.S., over 40 million parrots are kept as pets, yet 85% are resold or abandoned within 2 years of purchase. While there are over 14,000 shelters for dogs and cats, there are fewer than 80 parrot rescues and only a dozen small sanctuaries. The increased capacity of large sanctuaries accommodates more abandoned parrots, offers specialized care, and raises public awareness about responsible ownership and parrot welfare issues. By addressing the growing demand for parrot care and support, large sanctuaries like the Georgia Aviary can considerably impact the well-being of these extraordinary birds.

Located in the heart of the north Georgia forest, the 12-acre sanctuary will be covered by a stainless steel mesh, allowing parrots to fly freely and experience an environment as close to their natural habitat as possible. The Georgia Aviary will house various parrot species, from small and colorful parakeets to majestic macaws.

Key features of the Georgia Aviary include:

A state-of-the-art visitor center, where guests can learn about the rescued parrots, their natural history, behavior, and conservation.

A unique and beautiful event center, providing a one-of-a-kind venue for hosting events of all kinds, surrounded by the aviary's vibrant and diverse bird population.

An on-site, cutting-edge avian veterinary hospital, offering world-class care for birds of all types, ensuring their health and well-being.

The Georgia Aviary is committed to promoting parrot conservation and education, raising public awareness about responsible ownership and the threats these birds face in the wild due to habitat destruction, poaching, and the pet trade. By providing a haven for rescued

parrots and promoting public education, the Georgia Aviary aims to inspire and empower people to take action to protect these amazing creatures.
