Bass Fishing Kayaks has released a new guide highlighting recent enhancements made to the kayaks in the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler series.
—
In the latest guide, Bass Fishing Kayaks analyzes the new steering systems, standing platforms, and storage solutions added to the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler series kayaks. They also discuss some of the differences between the Pro Angler 12 and Pro Angler 14, the two most popular kayaks in the series.

According to Bass Fishing Kayaks, the most useful feature that has been added to the kayaks is the MirageDrive 360 with Kick-Up Fin Technology. Designed for shallow waters, this innovative pedal system allows anglers to turn and propel their kayaks in any direction without having to use a paddle. The system’s fins also automatically retract upon impact with obstacles, protecting them from damage.
“The MirageDrive 360 provides full-circle maneuverability, meaning you’ll always be perfectly positioned for the catch,” explained a spokesperson for Bass Fishing Kayaks. “Add into the equation the Kick-Up Fin, and you’ll never have to worry about rocks, logs, or vegetation getting in your way again.“
Another impressive component of the kayaks is their standing platform, which features a lightweight, durable frame covered with noise-reducing EVA traction pads that make it easier for anglers to sneak up on fish without being noticed.
For storage, the kayaks have been fitted with a large front hatch, a pivoting tackle system, a rod management rig, and several other compartments for smaller essentials. The easy-to-access large front hatch comes with a removable waterproof liner so anglers can fill it with ice and use it to store their fish until they are ready to depart the water.
Though all of the kayaks in the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler series have been equipped with the enhancements discussed in the guide, Bass Fishing Kayaks points out that there are still subtle differences between models. For example, the Pro Angler 12 has a weight capacity of 500 lbs while the Pro Angler 14 can carry up to 600 lbs. Additionally, the Pro Angler 14 has more rod holders and storage compartments than the Pro Angler 12.
“If you’re looking to enhance your shallow water fishing experience, the kayaks in the Hobie Mirage Pro Angler series are worthwhile investments,” said the spokesperson. “From the MirageDrive 360 with Kick-Up Fin Technology to the noise-reducing EVA traction pads and advanced storage solutions, these features are designed to meet the diverse needs of serious anglers.”
