Ashok Kumar, the former CTO of Digital Transformation at Verizon, has joined Fetii's Advisory Board. Founded in 2020, the Austin startup provides on-demand group ridesharing and commuting solutions for groups and businesses in order to reduce emissions and decrease congestion. Fetii utilizes a network of 15-passenger transit vans and currently transports thousands of passengers a month, removing single-occupancy vehicles off the road. The company was recently awarded a contract by The Texas A&M System (11 universities, eight state agencies and the systems office) to streamline its operations and assist in the System's reopening process. As Fetii continues to scale and show high growth, the startup trusts that, with Kumar onboard, Fetii will continue to enhance its product development and infrastructure appropriately.
Kumar retired in 2019 after more than two decades at the tech giant. He served in multiple executive positions including CTO of Digital Transformation and VP of FiOS. Kumar helped shape Verizon's Fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network deployment as the company grew its FiOS business into a multi-billion dollar operation, which resulted in the fastest internet in the country. During this rapid growth, Kumar also led the systems and technology team that designed and developed the award-winning My Verizon app as well as the FiOS digital experience (Verizon.com and mobile apps).
Before leaving Verizon, Kumar helped Verizon Wireless transform itself into a digital-first business, enabling its customers with the ability to engage the company through its mobile and AI platforms. This became key for Verizon when the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ashok Kumar joins existing Fetii advisor Joseph Kopser, founder of RideScout. Kopser is a transportation expert best known as the co-founder and former CEO of RideScout, which was acquired by Mercedes-Benz.
