With over 40 years of experience engineering and fabricating unique mobile solutions for customers nationwide, Craftsmen Industries, Inc. has earned a reputation for being able to build just about anything. In 2017, the company designed and built a mobile grocery unit to enable the Elder Care Alliance to provide nutritious food to seniors in the Oakland, CA, area through its Mercy Brown Bag Program. This year Craftsmen built a second custom mobile unit that will help volunteers feed an additional 2,000 people.

Since its inception in 1982, Craftsmen Industries, Inc. has focused on providing innovative solutions to unique problems. Its custom trailers and trucks provide one-of-a-kind features that allow its clients to grow and expand their businesses. With multiple trades, including engineering, fabrication, and large format printing, housed under one roof, Craftsmen’s tradespeople work side-by-side to develop solutions, keep projects on budget, and deliver products on time.

“With inflation continuing to rise, many retirees are watching the value of their dollar shrink,” remarked Mark Steele, CEO and Co-Owner of Craftsmen Industries, Inc. “For over 20 years, the Elder Care Alliance has made great strides in helping seniors stretch their budget by providing free access to healthy food options. However, they needed a way to expand their services. We are proud to be able to use our expertise to provide a mobile solution to help the Alliance reach thousands more Bay Area residents in need.”

Built on a truck body, the new grocery delivery unit designed and built by Craftsmen Industries can hold up to 300 pounds of food. It features six custom pivoting racks for easy food storage, loading, and access. The air conditioning and refrigerator keep perishable foods cold. Primarily powered by a generator, the unit can also be plugged in at night, allowing volunteers to store food in the vehicle overnight.

“Redesigning and building a new mobile grocery truck for the Elder Care Alliance was a great project for the Craftsmen team,” remarked Steele. “It allowed us to review our past work and discover ways to improve the design and functionality to help provide for a community in need.”

Craftsmen Industries, Inc. strives to complete every project to the highest quality standards, for which the company is ISO 9001:2015 certified. While they are recognized for their large-scale G7 master printing projects, they’re skilled in many areas, including wide format printing, commercial fleet wraps, retail graphics, architectural signs, and custom trailer fabrication and design.
