In honoring their ongoing commitment to patient care and safety, Lexington Plastic Surgery has earned accreditation from the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).

This accreditation signals the highest standard of office-based and outpatient care for the Lexington, Kentucky plastic surgery center. It is only awarded after highly regimented inspections of the care environment and policies (for operating and recovery rooms), overall facility safety, medical records, medications, personnel, and anesthesia.

“Unlike some other organizations, the AAAASF will not grant partial accreditations,” said Lexington Plastic Surgery President, Dr. Theo Gerstle. “This accreditation only comes with 100% compliance and any deficiency could lead to loss of accreditation.”

The AAAASF is one of the largest and most highly respected not-for-profit accrediting organizations of its kind in the U.S. It was created to elevate the quality of care at outpatient facilities and give patients insights into providers’ commitment to patient safety.

“Regardless of the service our patients are receiving, we’re happy to offer them the peace of mind that their safety is always our number one concern,” said Dr. Gerstle. “We have worked very hard to earn this accreditation, and we will continue to stay in compliance to maintain it.”

Dr. Gerstle provides a wide range of services at his Lexington surgery center, including face lifts, neck lifts, breast augmentations, facial reconstruction, emergency laceration repair, and treatment for migraines. Dr. Gerstle graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) and served in the U.S. Army. He was a distinguished graduate of University of Louisville’s School of Medicine and completed his surgical training at the Harvard Combined Plastic Surgery Residency program.
