Fuzhou Successfully Holds the 10th Straits Youth Summit

On December 2, under the co-sponsorship of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the All-China Youth Federation and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, the 10th Straits Youth Summit, was grandly held at Fuzhou Straits Culture and Art Center. The Summit set up both a main venue in Fuzhou and a branch venue in Taibei (Taipei) to be broadcast in live streaming through domestic and foreign media platforms. Over 350 guests from all walks of life on both sides of the Taiwan Straits attended the on-site summit.

Zhou Zuyi, Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, delivered a speech and announced the formal commencement of the 10th Straits Youth Summit and involved activities. Followed speakers were Long Mingbiao, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Lin Baojin, Member of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, and Wang Bingzhong, a Taiwan current affairs commentator and the founding chairman of the New Chinese Sons and Daughters Association respectively. Xu Xiao, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and Vice Chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, delivered a speech via video. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Province and Deputy Secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee.

Under the background of “10 years’ Straits Youth Festival”, the Summit took the theme of “One Heart, One Journey, One Revival with Me”, to fully summarize the typical cases and effective projects of the outstanding young people who have emerged in the 10 years’ festivals. Through sharing their experiences and feelings in the mainland, the young people of Taiwan, in their speeches, fully illustrated the convenience provided by the mainland in their study, employment, entrepreneurship and life. While demonstrating the effectiveness of the mainland’s efforts with Taiwan since the 18th CPC National Congress, their speeches have further motivated us to study and implement of what General Secretary Xi Jinping has said in the 20th CPC National Congress:” We have always shown respect and care for our Taiwan compatriots and worked to deliver benefits to them“. All these favorable policies and efforts have tightened the spiritual bonds on both sides of the Straits, inspiring Taiwanese youth to think further about how they should be actively integrated into the great process of “advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization” and share the glory of it.

Through the three chapters, “Bonding — Being bonded with the mainland to plant the seeds of dreams!”, “Stage — Sharing a homeland to work together!” and “One Chinese Dream — One Heart & One Journey, One Revival with Me!”, Qiu Xinyi, a young musician of Fuzhou Straits Symphony Orchestra, Wang Tingwei, the first “building manager” of a Taiwan compatriot apartment in Fujian Province, Chen Yunjia, tea ceremony artist, young “entrepreneurial star” and high-level introduced talent of Fujian Province, Wei Huini, cross-border artist and curator of Hangzhou Gongwang Cross-Straits Yuanyuanyuan Art Museum, Ling Kaijun, winner of the “Hainan Youth May Fourth Medal”, investment entrepreneur in Hainan Free Trade Port, and President of Yingyi Biotechnology Group, all the five Taiwanese youth representatives told the wonderful stories of how they become attached to the mainland and found their own stages for great dreams, presenting vivid cases of how cross-straits youth have learned from each other for in-depth integration.

The summit invited four famous guests, including Jing Qiang, winner of the “China Youth May Fourth Medal” and chief engineer of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority, Wang Ruiting, Vice President of China Literature Group, Qiu Yi and Wang Bingzhong, two Taiwan current affairs commentator, for interactive dialogues with the five young speakers who shared their stories. The four heavyweight guests fully affirmed the mainland’s policy advantages and considerate services in introducing Taiwanese talents such as the permit service, public rental housing policies for Taiwan compatriots, while discussing Taiwanese youth’s opportunities and roles in the process of the Chinese path to modernization, according to what the young speakers have displayed in the construction of “community governance” and “beautiful countryside”. The four encouraged the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Straits to work together for a better future, while building an ideological consensus that the general trend is “the wheels of history rolling on toward China’s reunification and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” and the cross-straits integration being steadily deepened. All these celebrities of their fields jointly sent their best wishes to the youth on both sides of the Taiwan Straits, hoping the latter could show extraordinary talents in the great process of realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
