Renaissance Recovery Provides Resources and Help on Prevention in Light of Alcohol Awareness Month

By: Get News

In light of Alcohol Awareness Month, Renaissance Recovery has resources and help for those who are struggling with their relationship with alcohol or those with loved ones who are. People can get the help they need and deserve.

According to the 2018 National Survey on Substance Use and Health (NSDUH), 14.4 million adults 18 and older had alcohol use disorder (AUD). In 2021, that number nearly doubled to 28.1 million adult.

Renaissance Recovery CEO Kevin Catadi states: “Having initiatives and awareness campaigns like Alcohol Awareness Month is great to help people learn more about this problem and even re-evaluate their own habits. Alcohol is so prevalent in society and it can be easy for problems to go unnoticed or ignored. But, things like Alcohol Awareness Month help bring these issues to light and even help destroy the stigma associated with addiction.”

Alcohol Awareness Month was established by the NCADD in order to increase outreach and education surrounding the dangers of alcohol related issues. It’s a time to address the stigma that surrounds addiction and alcohol use. Addiction is a disease that can go beyond what one can handle.

If someone is worried about alcohol addiction or thinks a loved one may have an issue, it is important to know the signs of alcohol use disorder. If someone is unable to drink in moderation, is secretive about the amount that is being consumed, engages in risky behaviors, and is distressed at the thought of not having access to alcohol, it may be time to get help. If oneself or a loved one are showing these signs people can call (949)990-4647 or visit this addiction hotline page to explore options.

Alcohol is prevalent in society, understanding the impact and hold it can have on people is vital to preventing alcohol use disorder from increasing more than it already has. There are ways people can help those in their lives who are suffering from addiction. People can help their loved ones create a plan that allows success in sobriety, and encourage them to keep trying despite setbacks they will inevitably experience. It’s also important to take care of oneself and get outside support.

Cataldi continues: “Community is especially important for those trying to get sober. Whether it’s people who are in recovery themselves or loved ones encouraging them, don’t recover alone. That’s something that is prioritized here at Renaissance. Community is built last here and continues on with clients as Renaissance all throughout their recovery journeys.”

Renaissance Recovery is an addiction treatment center in Southern California that offers treatment for all different forms of substance abuse. At Renaissance, one can get help through a number of evidence-based treatment options including various types of therapy, dual diagnosis, and medicated-assisted treatment.
