The initiative complements the existing investments and relationships with key partners in the battery and EV space Huangpu-Mining

Guangzhou, Guangdong Jun 29, 2023 (Issuewire.com) - Huangpu Mining (ISIN: CN0397106583), a pioneering cobalt mining company in China whose vision is to become a new mining benchmark company, delivering value and tangible benefits to its shareholders, partners and the community in which it operates, is pleased to announce the establishment of a strategic partnership with a top Chinese recycler of lithium-ion batteries, who will join Huangpu Mining as a preferred partner in the lithium-ion battery recycling industry.

The essential business commitments underlying this strategic partnership will be signed in conjunction with the subscription's closing and will consist of the following:

  • Obtaining materials and feedstock for the company's facilities;
  • Offtake certain black mass, battery-usable end products, and by-products from the facilities;
  • Supplying the hub facilities' needs for sulfuric acid.

In order to localize battery raw material supply chains within important regions in a scalable and sustainable manner, Huangpu Mining has been striving to develop regional platforms, making it possible for a number of essential partners to connect to these venues.

Huangpu Mining aims to integrate primary and recycled battery raw materials to make battery-quality end products with the inclusion of this strategic collaboration with its partner. As a result, automakers will be able to satisfy both their EV goals and important regulatory requirements relating to battery raw material requirements. Localizing supply chains and gradually boosting the amount of recycled material in battery raw materials will make this possible.

In Asia, Huangpu Mining will work to assess the feasibility of utilizing the existing asset footprint with a view towards re-purposing some of the company's assets. This will reduce the lead time for achieving industrial-scale production of battery-grade end products. Huangpu Mining will also explore, together with other appropriate supply chain partners, the production of precursor cathode active material (pCAM) in Asia and potentially abroad.

"We are pleased to introduce this new strategic partnership. The energy shift, in our opinion, will be significantly aided by the recycling of batteries. Our audacious goal is to assist in fostering the development of a truly circular economy that reintroduces recycled materials and minerals into the battery supply chain", declared Xu Zihan, Technical Project Manager at Huangpu Mining.
