CBL Properties Welcomes Derek Young to CBL as Vice President - ESG

CBL Properties (NYSE:CBL) today announced that Derek Young has joined CBL as the company’s initial vice president – ESG. Prior to joining CBL, Young spent more than six years at Summit Strategy Group, a California-based corporate consultancy specializing in public affairs, Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), and healthcare.

Enhancing our ESG program is an important priority for us,” said Stephen Lebovitz, chief executive officer, CBL Properties. “Derek’s expertise and experience building effective sustainability strategies as well as his understanding of ESG policies, practices, and reporting make him an outstanding addition to our team and will allow us to accelerate our efforts.”

In his most recent role as Managing Director of ESG Consulting Services, Derek led the ESG consulting practice for Summit Strategy Group, setting the strategic direction for the firm’s ESG practice, overseeing the financial performance of the practice, and creating all product offerings in the ESG and sustainability space.

In addition to his work at Summit Strategy Group, Derek has helped to start and lead the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability programs at several corporations including Invista, TGI Fridays, and FedEx, and has provided consulting support to numerous other brands across a range of sectors and industries, including REITs and real estate companies.
