" America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration" Is Back For 2021 And Live On WCVB Channel 5!

By: PRLog

WCVB Channel 5 will air live, exclusive coverage of Plymouth's Historic Thanksgiving Parade On Saturday, November 20th from 10am-12pm.

PLYMOUTH, Mass. - Aug. 11, 2021 - PRLog -- "America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration" (AHTC) is back, and this year it's LIVE on WCVB Channel 5. WCVB Channel 5 will air live, exclusive coverage of the parade and its pageantry on Saturday, November 20 at 10AM-12PM marking the first time in the parade's 25-year history that it will be broadcast live to the Boston market.

"Last year, WCVB was looking forward to working with the AHTC team to take our partnership to the next level by providing a live broadcast of the parade for the first time in the event's history. But like so many other cherished traditions, the parade and our coverage were cancelled due to the pandemic," said Kyle I. Grimes, WCVB Channel 5 President and General Manager. "With the celebration returning this year, WCVB is particularly honored to provide exclusive, live coverage of the event for the greater community to enjoy."

"WCVB has been a tremendous partner to AHTC for many years helping to raise the profile of the parade and bring some additional excitement by having the NewsCenter 5 EyeOpener team serve as grand marshals," said Olly DeMacedo, Executive Director of AHTC. "We could not be happier to resume our plans to air the parade live on WCVB and to be able to share this nationally-ranked Thanksgiving celebration with so many more people as a result of WCVB's telecast."

This year's festivities will mark the 400th anniversary of Thanksgiving and continue to serve as an important link to our nation's history and heritage. The parade, one of the top ranked Thanksgiving parades in the nation since its inception 25 years ago, will again weave its way through downtown Plymouth and historic waterfront after a year's hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The lineup will include beautifully decorated floats that not only represent historic events, but also honor national anniversaries and celebrate every period of American history. The parade will also feature local musical acts, high school marching bands, drum and bugle corps, and military bands that march through the streets in honor of our country's military personnel and veterans.

About America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration

Our mission is to educate the public while preserving our country's important history, starting with the Pilgrim legacy and Thanksgiving story while recognizing all those who have fought to protect the American way of life.  We will accomplish this goal by producing a Thanksgiving celebration of excellence in Plymouth, America's Hometown, where Thanksgiving began. Through concerts honoring military sacrifice and a parade chronicling the Pilgrim legacy, spectators will leave with a sense of history and pride.
