Popular Lobster Restaurant Opens New St. Petersburg Location

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls has opened a new location in St. Petersburg, marketing a further expansion of the brand’s fast, casual footprint. This is the company’s 2rd U.S. location.

Annapolis, Maryland - March 1, 2023

Mason’s Famous Lobster RollsⓇ, America’s favorite fast-casual franchise for its genuine Maine lobster experience and the largest brick-and-mortar chain in the U.S. with the broadest variety of rolls, announces the addition of its 23rd independently-owned and operated U.S. location in St. Petersburg, Florida. Opened on February 20, 2023, this will be the company’s fifth Florida location.

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls offers a full menu of lobster-based items, such as lobster salad, lobster bisque and lobster mac & cheese, and other New England favorites such as clam chowder. However, its most popular items are its wide variety of classic lobster rolls, made with 100% Maine lobster that is harvested at its peak sweetness and served on a toasted, buttered, split-top bun, just like they are in the lobster shacks in Maine.

“Lobster has been in my blood for more than 20 years,” says Dan Beck, founder of Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls. “Working as a seafood buyer in the restaurant industry allowed me to get to know the lobstermen in Maine and appreciate their centuries-old values and traditions. I started Mason’s in 2014 because I wanted to give people the authentic Maine lobster experience in a friendly, casual setting. We are excited to open the St. Petersburg location to bring the coastal experience to the growing downtown area.”

Since its beginning, Beck has insisted that Mason’s sources its lobster only from Maine, where lobsters migrate from colder waters to shed their shells and reveal the sweetest meat. The company buys the “summer pack” directly from Maine lobstermen, as summer is the lobster meat’s sweetest stage. The St. Petersburg location offers full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, with lobster taking center stage alongside other items that appeal to every taste.

“Floridians know their seafood, but lobster rolls are something not many restaurants get right, at least when it comes to authentic Maine lobster rolls,” says Dominick Chiuchiolo, franchise owner at the St. Petersburg location. “Our menu is simple, so we can focus on quality and hold true to east coast traditions. We are thrilled to be part of the St. Petersburg community and are excited to bring Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls to people who appreciate exceptional seafood.”
