Taking Classic Characters to Court: Sugar Cookie Books Unveils “The 3 Pigs vs. The Wolf”, the First Title in the ‘Fairy Tale Versus’ Series

By: Get News
This children’s book series features characters that children know and love and puts a legal spin on tales to foster a love for law

Sugar Cookie Books has announced the first title in its exciting new ‘Fairy Tale Versus,’ which will include a collection of classic fairy tales with a legal twist. “The 3 Pigs vs. The Wolf” has made its official debut, bringing to young readers everywhere a transitional/beginner chapter book that draws together a timeless beloved classic with a legal perspective that inspires a love for law.

According to Sugar Cookie Books founder and author Tiffany Obeng, middle school mock trial left her feeling inspired and empowered to become a lawyer. She was the first lawyer from her family, and she says she didn’t know it was okay to not always know the answers. “I found writing this book to be quite therapeutic,” says Obeng. “It took me 15+ years to fully understand that television lawyers have scripts and that not having all the right answers, the perfect argument, or the perfect response doesn’t make a lawyer any less amazing at their job.”

In “The 3 Pigs vs. The Wolf,” Obeng uses characters such as Judge Olivia Otomayor to connect with children. This character, which is a nod to the honorable Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor, doesn’t always have the answers. She trudges through arguments at times, but she always works hard to help her friends. While she might not know the best course of action immediately, she remains resilient and hard working to find the best solution.

Over the course of its 78 pages filled with beautiful illustrations and captivating context, “The 3 Pigs vs. The Wolf” encourages young readers to see themselves as lawyers and to not be deterred by imposter syndrome.

Here’s what reviewer P. Rosenthal (Readers’ Favorite), said:

“There are two sides to every story. This is the notation in ‘The Three Pigs vs. The Wolf’ by Tiffany Obeng. Obeng creates relatable main characters. The plaintiffs and defendants have different perspectives that add tension and suspense to the story. Readers will find themselves empathizing with the pigs who have lost their homes, and then find themselves considering a different attitude after the defense arguments. Themes of fairness and justice abound. Surya Gunawan’s grayscale illustrations are a delight! Interspersed throughout the book, each image engages the reader and heightens the imagination Parents and teachers will appreciate the thoughtful message of empathy and sensitivity. Fans of courtroom dramas will love this twist on a well-known fairy tale!”
